Все дело в двигателе LC4, имеющим много общего с мотором KTM Duke 690, хоть и отличающегося настройками, но все же обладающим внушительным потенциалом на асфальте. На бездорожье ему вообще мало равных, а вкупе с пневматической вилкой, появившейся на мотоцикле 2016 модельного года и эндурными спицованными колесами, возможности машины ограничиваются только умениями пилота. Мотоцикл довольно высокий, поэтому без сноровки сесть в седло будет непросто даже рослым пилотам, во-вторых, относительно легкий мотоцикл не ощущается таковым из-за высокого центра масс, поэтому даже удержать его на наклонной поверхности задача не из простых.

The KTM enduro models continue to feature the proven PDS shock system, which for 2024 is updated and optimised to work fluidly with the new frame concept. As an industry first, the suspension at both ends remains fully adjustable for compression and rebound damping by way of hand clickers, without the need for any tools, and easy-set preload adjustability on the rear. An all-new lightweight two-piece subframe — constructed from a combination of polyamide and reinforced aluminum — delivers outstanding handling and rider feedback, as well as remarkable robustness. All electronic components, including an all-new Offroad Control Unit, are fully integrated into the subframe for easy access and improved protection. This has been developed with input from the Red Bull KTM Factory Riders to deliver an improved rider triangle for better knee contact, especially standing on the pegs. A new front fender design now also features mud-repelling fins for expelling dirt and mud from hitting the rider or radiators, while a new 8.
They also swivel further up to get out of the way. The new footpegs got so much grip, I struggled at times to get my foot off them and under the gear lever! But for hanging on through water crossing or up steep hills, it felt like your boots were clipped in. But the four-strokes have also shown great improvement. The fuelling and power across the board felt much the same. All four four-strokes received the same upgrades with engineers positioning the engine closer to the middle of the bike by tilting the engines two degrees backward and repositioning the front sprocket 3mm lower. This update is essentially what marketing departments call mass-centralisation. The bikes felt a little more balanced thanks to the fork and chassis changes but it was the on and off throttle that improved the most. The four-strokes were less likely to flame out and die when shutting the throttle on and off so that should mean less scorpion moments when approaching a log. Worth the trip? The suspension is firmer, less likely to blow through and dive and it is now easier to charge hard into bumps without it behaving like a Red Bull sponsored pogo stick. The frame is stiffer making for less arse-puckering moments when hauling at speed through a paddock or charging into braking bumps in the single track between the pine trees. The use of an OCU is genius and combined with the notes on the outside of the bike for servicing, will make living with the bike so much easier. There were too many changes to this model year for KTM for me to list them all but rest assured, I am going to break down every model and look at all the hidden new pieces over the next five issues. New fork protection rings also provide improved protection against dirt intrusion. Best of all, the new fork allows for full adjustment of compression and rebound without the need for any tools. This remains the most reliable and maintenance-friendly option for competitive enduro racing. It features a new compact design, new bearings seals, and a new main piston for optimized oil flow, and improved, consistent damping, as well as providing full adjustability thanks to easy-to-use hand clickers for adjustments on the fly. These are wrapped in a set of ultra-grippy Maxxis MaxxEnduro tires providing exceptional traction in all conditions. Made from high-grade aluminum, these feature optimally tuned steering stem stiffness, perfect alignment of the fork tubes, and precise geometry of the fork clamps to ensure highly responsive and smooth fork action — not to mention unwavering stability for those ultra-fast flat-out special stages. Newly designed, topology-optimized rubber-mounted bar mounts provide an increased grip surface for less handlebar twist They come with a fixed mounting, providing the perfect amount of flex for the forged triple clamp setup. A new shock mounting, no longer connected to the main tube, significantly improves the anti-squat of the chassis. In contrast, a new, service-friendly one-piece steering head seal provides improved reliability. The closed-head tube design also provides a new routing for the fuel overflow. And lastly, a new forged one-piece side stand means no more sinking feelings when parking up.
